This year, there was a suicide in our area.As the deceased is a distant relation through marriage, I created and sponsored a lovely, respectful memorial that I felt our side of the family could be proud of viewing. Two weeks later, a 13 year account created a duplicate...

Well, the final chapter: they again removed from my care the memorial I created and paid to sponsor to another person whom I assume to be from the family. I'm not going to pout over our ownership being revoked but it is sad that we were treated so badly by the site and the person trolling the rest of the family was never penalized. I don't feel that my business is wanted by Ancestry.com so I will comply with their wishes and refrain from using their service or spending money with them.

I was unfairly and unjustly banned from Find A Grave (twice). While I was never a prolific contributor to the site I did add the following famous names: illustrator Charles Addams, author Robert Benchley, actress Joan Marshall and spy Sidney Reilly. Find A Grave often...

I absolutely agree with 'Unjustly Banned'. Find A Grave is a private website and they have every right to ban anyone as they see fit.

However it's a circle of snobs who rule the site they damage it's reputation by unreasonable banning, stealing the hard work of others, denying access to paid for memorials, allowing preferred members to post while deleting and taking credit for the work of others. I see it happening all time on Find A Grave, it's not right.

Find A Grave is owned and run by a small circle of conceited self-righteous, thin skinned, boorish and despicable people.

Really Jim Tipton, grow up and make Find A Grave respectable.

Find A Grave Account

Update by user Aug 20, 2015

I am out of this conversation - the same people who were causing the problems on Find A Grave are also cause problems here.

That's how they get so many memorials. They make complaints and then take their memorials over after they get someone booted.

Why would someone who...

When the poster updated her complaint, she said the same people were causing problems here as on Find A Grave. Seems that was the complainant.

She did these things over and over again

Posted photos from obits

Had URLs and links in the bio

Listed survivors in obits

Copied & pasted full obits w/o permission

It is highly unlikely she was kicked off Find A Grave with no warning whatsoever.

She was probably told by the admins to stop doing the above things and to remove those from her memorials. It probably wasn't that she wasn't doing it fast enough but that she was continuing to do all of the above.

For the life of me, I can never understand these contributors who refuse to transfer memorials to the rightful family members. I just dont understand thier possessiveness in hanging onto the great grandparents memorials that they are not related to..how would they feel if some total stranger REFUSED to transfer thier very own great-grandparents to them?

I would like to "THANK YOU" Find A Grave by not allowing the "Act of Fraud" being played out by banning a contributor know as Kari Norstog #127282490. After Kari Norstog was banned from "Find A Grave" on April 15, 2014, Kari Norstog signed up eight more times as a contributor to Find A Grave. Find A Grave deleted all the fraudulent names BY KARI.

The names were are as follows:

WILLIAM Tuck-#48400430,.....CKN-#127282490,.....STARLIGHT-#48417452,.....

SPIRITWIND82-#48431969....MARTHA BREDESEN-#48426648,....

I question why anyone would need to keep 100,000 or more pages. I question why anyone would want to keep even 10,000 people they are not related to.

If you made the page your name remains as creator.

So what is the big deal? You cannot possibly keep up with 100,000 pages.

Don't try to tell us you are not in it for numbers when you have hoarded tens of thousands of pages and refuse to part with any of them until the site forces you to.

That is not memorializing anyone - that is active OCD.

These pages represent actual human beings. Let people have the pages who actually care about them.
