Find A Grave -Jim Tipton Thief

Find A Grave owner Jim Tipton is a thief he creates a website for members to add burial information thus creating so called "memorials" he uses these memorials for ad space and charges members to sponsor these memorials. He makes hundreds of thousands of dollars a year from the deaths of others loved ones and provides no service to the survivors.

He and his administration have a set of so called "faq's" that only apply to a few. Find A Grave members constantly steals obituaries, steals photos and information from newspapers, websites and funeral homes. Information provided by the family to the various media with permission for the information to be used only in those media forms NOT Find A Grave.

Find A Grave is notorious for violating copyrights and allowing its members to violate copyrights. Members are out thousands of dollars from their free work so that Jim Tipton can make a profit.

Could not agree more. My Mother's Obituary was posted within hours of her passing. Also my Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and so on, using a fictitious name.Thank you fellow mourners.

Contributors are giving him free labor and he's making a profit of the deaths (memorials) of family members.

Findagrave support does not attempt to resolve issues and takes the side of the volunteer who has uploaded the most memorials . Volunteers do not care whether or not the information they add is accurate.

To resolve this problem: Charge each volunteer a fee to create a memorial and for each image added. Findagrave is a group of mentally disturbed individuals.

Finding a grave has nothing to do with these volunteers. If those volunteers were physically active, they'd be considered a domestic terrorist group in the united states.

Since pictures and such are in the media, they are public...

I am so grateful for Find a Grave. Like so many people, my loved ones lived all over this country as well as many other countries around the world.

I'm so blessed to have found this site many years ago and to have seen memorials and grave markers of my family members all over the world that otherwise never would have been made available to many of us. Thank you Find a Grave and all members and of course the Contributors.

I have never been charged for this website. Besides it's a good resource if your doing your family tree research.

I have found many of my ancestors on it which I may have not.

Familysearch.org is how I found out about it. Yes there are some flaws, however a good resource.

maybe a class action suit against findagrave.com will stop them

I have used and added many memorials over 10 years. Never spent a dime and have used it numerous times. Seems like someone has a bone to pick that has nothing to do with FAG.

Patricia M Nzn
reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-1687097

That's exactly what they did to me. When I try to resolve the problem, FAG sends messages that they'll fix it.

A month of messages and no fix yet. Check your memorials, they steal your work.

It is not Jim Tipton it's people like Dash She cuts down findagrave on her page the spark is gone why would they leave that for the public to see in her Bio Being she worked for findagrave ,She has no spark , she loves to make fun of members grammar , She should be ashamed she is nasty to members Votes R You can tell ever Curator that votes R She might not work any more for fag but she still has codes to remove graves and she does .If you like Dash family memorial Dash will turn off flower for you turn off accounts and take graves away for you if you are from Ca just send her a message on Facebook is how they was doing it If she stills your email from Facebook to turn off your findagrave report to Facebook. That's what she was doing for Michelle , Michelle left flower after flower when she wanted a member removed Then Dash took them out, Thank God for Tanya Smith she does care for people no matter what some might think , Michelle left on Tayna Smith Unseen ,unheard but left it anonymous on the 15 Tracey Jenn Jena Tayna Christi helps I get it Jim needed Dash Aj to do the Ca grave photos but in 2019 Jim doesn't need The bullying They are to many members willing to to it for free or just for a thanks In 2018 Margo join Ancestry Ancestry owns findagrave Dash bio lost her spark but maybe findagrave lost spark for bullying

FIND A GRAVE CONTRIBUTORS ARE VULTURES AND HOADERS

I know what you mean about hoarding and vultures. Here's my story.

My Father died in the Vietnam War my Mother had him buried in a family cemetery, the land was donated by my Great Great Father. My Mother had a double stone made with their names birth date, wedding date, Dads death date, names of myself and my siblings. It's a beautiful stone it was erected in the 1969. The cemetery is on private property and is locked with a combination lock.

When my Mother passed earlier this year. I heard about findagrave and thought it would be nice to make a memorial for her. Which I did, the next day I got an ugly message saying that I had made a duplicate memorial. And I thought that was odd since I only had one memorial, they told me I duplicated my Mother's memorial???

What??? I said no, I don't think so and the person calling themselves GRAVER said he had made a memorial for my Mother 10 years ago. I ask how he knew my Mother he said I DON'T HAVE TO KNOW HER!! I ask how could you make a memorial for my Mother 10 years before she died.

He said there was a stone for and he had taken a picture of the gravestone. There was not a death date for my Mother 10 years ago. I saw the picture he took and none of the flowers and crosses that are always on the stone weren't in the picture I thought that explains why many years ago when we went to the cemetery a bunch of the flower arrangements and mementos where moved to the sides of gravestones. This is what these GRAVERS do they stomp all over our families graves moving flowers to take pictures with no regard to the sanctity of their graves.

I told him that, that is MY Mother and he made a memorial for someone who was not dead. He said he would transfer I said no, you should do the right thing and delete it. First, he tresspassed on private property, jumped the fence, moved flowers and mementos to take pictures and made memorials for people that are not dead. I have contacted findagrave and got no response.

The next thing I know the memorial I made for MY MOTHER was deleted. Now I am working to get them to remove my Father & Mother's memorials. I have contacted the Better Business Bureau. My Brother, Sister and myself have all contacted findagrave and the BBB.

Findagrave is a horrible site with a bunch of meanies running it. The GRAVER man has over hundred thousand memorials, it is disgusting he is a real "VULTURE".

Find a Grave allowed a site manager to start a personal vendetta against me because he went into my ancestor Elizabeth Rothrock's findagrave site SBD removed data elsewhere

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I caught him right after he had changed church records because he indicated that he had changed the information from unknown to Elizabeth Yant at the church website. Now he wrote an e-msil to.me saying he was going to make certain I was no longer a DAR member by disproving my ancestor's lineage.

Is he changing other records in his position? He accused me of being a liar when I applied with the DAR with a supplemental, meaning they had proved her lineage before with another member, and I only had to provide evidence. birth. death and marriage certificates, which I did, for the first five generations of lineage to Elizabeth Rothrock.

How can they let him possibly tamper with my family information, and bring my integrity into question? I earned what I received after many hours of research.

Great site, customer service sucks

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

This is a wonderful site for memorializing loved ones, and also for genealogy research. But they're now part of Ancestry.com, so you have to go through Ancestry to get phone customer service WHEN SOME SOCIOPATH HACKS YOUR ACCOUNT AND STEALS ONE OF YOUR RELATIVE'S MEMORIALS, so I just hung up on the rep. Then FindAGrave emails me that "we're working through a backlog, be patient." I WOULD THINK THAT HACKING GOES TO THE TOP OF THE LIST!!!

Stalking and Harassment

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I've been being stalked by another member since January. Find A Grave Admins, an Senior Admins are doing nothing.

This individual is all over me and my family. She watches my every move. She creates, sponsors, and adds flowers to my family's memorials. She lies about her relationship to gain memorials from other managers.

She reports my family memorials as duplicates to hers which she creates using information from me. She posts incorrect information and rejects edits. She's even blocked the edit features on some of the memorials using a second account. It's maddening.

I could go on about all she's done, including messaging me via the edit feature after a senior admin told us to refrain from any contact on their website. This will never end. I even called Ancestry and of course they were if no help. This person needs to be removed from the website, but instead she's rewarded for creating thousands of memorials, some with the intention to harass.

I wish I'd never found Find A Grave. I ran into it by accident on Ancestry. If Ancestry can't offer a proper support system and telephone number they shouldn't be operating the site. I've purchased many sponsorships at $10.00 a piece.

I want to leave. There are no refunds. Even when they merge memorials and give your stalker the finished memorial you've got to beg for the refund of money they stole from you.

Greedy, disgusting company! The Admins are condescending and useless.

Disappointed

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I manage my parents and grandparents memorials. Somehow someone was allowed to add my mother's sibling without my edit approval.

Also, someone was allowed to change and delete a photo on my father's without edit approval. The reason I managed them is for stuff like this not to happen. If a family member is the manager no one should be able to make the changes unless it's the managed relative. Find A Grave should not be allowed to override the approval.

This is sensitive and my dad was remarried and I suspect it was his widow messing around. I wanted my parents connected since my mother passed 28 years before my father. They were married 20 years. The widow made everything about her when my father passed including where he was buried and not next to my mom like planned.

I wanted my kids to see some history between the grandparents and great grandparents. Managed accounts should have an option for privacy and members should NOT be allowed to add or change anything.

Find A Grave is deplorable. People claiming my family as theirs and lying thru teeth.

They have nothing better to do!

My wife’s memorial had a prayer to the patron saint of raped women and they removed the whole BIO field from it! As if a Prayer is a reasoning’

Guest

Agree and I had the same experience.

Guest

Nothing is written in stone. You go your merry way and behind your back, they change things without ever checking with you or notifying you.

Then if you just delete the memorial, someone else will just make another one.

The company, as it is today, should just be put out of business for so many reasons. Both on the contributor end and on the end of the deceased and their family.

Inflammatory Comments

I found inflammatory and untrue comments on my sisters Find a Grave memorial which included a living cousins name.Pure libel. These disrespectful words were written below my recently deceased sisters picture by a harassing cousin.

Find a Grave did not do anything about it.

This site is not monitored and anyone can write malicious comments for all the public to see. I had to get an authority to pressure my cousin to delete her disparaging rant.

Random people adding people they have no relationship to.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

My children's father's find a grave is controlled by someone that is nothing to him. They put in false information, and find a grave won't remove them from it.

Instead, they said his children could ask the people to correct the information. So my guess is most of the information on the site is false information.

  • Do not care about family of deceased or accuracy let any joe blow control people grave site information even if they are not related to the person

Preferred solution: People who had no reason to be in charge of W.T.'s information should be removed so his children can take care of it. The people who are in charge are not related to him.

Tons of different reasons

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I left Find A Grave for various reasons, One is that there is a contributor whos on the site hours before sun up and hours past sun down creating memorials and making sure no one gets them. I have been a photographer since 2015 and I have put in so much effort into them, and this person has done nothing but belittle me and tried his damnest to get me off the site for the stupidest reasons.

this person made complaints of duplicates, etc. to which by the way this person has been doing way more then me. He has made verbal and mental abuse to other contributors and got away with it. This contributor has had complaints against to admins and nothing has been done, he continues to get away with it and he sits on his hind end and laughs about it.

Admins favors this contributor for whatever reason, no matter what proof is sent to them, they favor this god awful contributor and If I ever rejoin, I will give this person a piece of my mind and I do not care what the admins have to say about it. I specifically asked admins to send my memorials to the contributors I know who will care for them in the event of my retirement of the site. When I did retire, they did not honor my request and this jokester of a contributor managed about 95% of what I had. and his numbers are now over 200,000 memorials and the photos that he does have were copyright from not only mine and does NOT credit me for my work, this person has done it to others too.

this person creates memorials for the deceased the SECOND the obituary is posted. How Sickning. I got booted off Find A Grave because of this person and he has his messages turned off (I wonder why).

So, I don't even bother with Find A Grave anymore. Too much stress and disappointment, not to mention the continuous abuse.

Summary

Find A Grave is an online service which helps you, obviously, to find a grave. The service was founded in 1995 by Jim Tipton as a response to his hobby of visiting famous people graves. He found out that many people shared his interest and created this site. Since its creation more than 350,000 people contributed to the site adding new graves addresses. Find A Grave allows you to search for graves of famous and ordinary people filling in their name, birth and death date and place of burial. The company states that more than 50,000 people search their website every day. Some people add new graves; others share success stories telling how Find A Grave helped to find a particular grave.
